Laurel Fuson

ACCORDION and PIANO

Laurel has loved and played many genres of music in her life, but she fell hard for traditional dance music when she first began dancing with the Louisville and Scottish Country Dance groups in the 1980s.  She soon began playing piano for the Scottish Country dance group and then the accordion. In 1983, she formed Scots Measure with two other women and they played for Scottish Country dances in Louisville and all over the midwest for seven years. She retired from playing music for many years, but began again, in 2007, when Henry recruited her to play accordion in My Darling Asleep, a traditional Irish Band that was based in Louisville.  Laurel also dabbles in other music genres now, including French musette and tango, and sometimes can be found playing that music with another band, Tango D’Ville.
